LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) — The following is a news release from Covenant Health:
On Saturday, April 27 at 10 a.m. the Lubbock chapter of the March of Dimes will hold their annual March for Babies at the American Windmill Museum, 1701 Canyon Lakes Drive.
The March of Dimes fights for the health of all moms and babies. The funds we raise through events, like March for Babies, empowers families with programs, information and tools to have healthier pregnancies. By giving every baby the best possible start, we’re building a brighter future for us all.
The walk is free and the public is welcome to attend, but teams and individuals are encouraged to raise donations to help fund our local chapter of the March of Dimes. Our goal is to raise $250,000.
At this year’s event we will also have food trucks donating some of the proceeds back to March of Dimes, as well as inflatables and other fun activities for the kids.
Leading the city-wide efforts to support March of Dimes through the annual walk campaign as the 2019 March for Babies Chair is Dr. Amy Thompson, CEO of Covenant Children’s.
This year’s March for Babies ambassador is Luke Gamez. Luke was born at Covenant Children’s at only 26 weeks, weighing less than 2 lbs. He spent 87 days in the NICU but is now a happy, healthy little boy.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. For more information or to sign up for the walk, please visit marchforbabies.org/event/lubbock
To RSVP, call: Brittani Kite, bkite@marchofdimes.org or (806)686-0306.
