Gather up the kids and head over to Safety City for a Mardi Gras Pre-Party and Children’s and Pet Parade on Saturday, February 6, 2016, 3:00-4:30 p.m. Start off from 3:00-4:00 p.m. with the Pre-Party for just $3 per person where you will be able to decorate your bikes, strollers, wagons, shoe boxes, and anything else you can push, pull, or ride around Safety City. Children will have access to all of our supplies including beads and doubloons to throw as we parade around Safety City. Pre-registration is required for the Pre-Party by February 4.
The Mardi Gras Children’s and Pet Parade will begin at 4:15 p.m. and is free for both participants and spectators. Dogs in costume are also welcome as we will have a krewe designated just for them! We will then line up the Krewe of Barkus and the Krewe of Kids to parade and Second Line around Safety City.
Located inside Clapp Park on 46th Street and Avenue U, Safety City is a unique, miniature town where throughout the school year students learn hands-on the rules of pedestrian, bicycle and traffic safety.
