The next Marvel super-hero makes the jump off the page and onto the big screen. Ryan Renolds stars as Deadpool, a former Special Forces soldier who undergoes an experiment that gives him accelerated healing powers. This one is not for the kids — it’s rated R and runs just shy of two hours. Deadpool’s twisted sense of humor will keep you entertained at Tinseltown, Premiere, Alamo and Stars & Stripes.

Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell return, for better or worse, in Zoolander 2. The two former supermodels have to break an evil organization that’s killing celebrities… all while they’re giving Zoolander’s trademark “Blue Steel” look. The comedy is PG-13, runs about an hour-forty, and it’s showing in every Lubbock movie theater.

Lubbock Moonlight Musicals presents Disney’s The Little Mermaid. The familiar “tale,” based on the animated classic, runs for the next two weekends, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All six performances will be at the Civic Center Theater, and you can get your $25-$65 tickets through Select-a-Seat.

The Lubbock Community Theatre performs the award winning Ruthless! The Musical. A little eight-year-old will do anything to play Pippy Longstockings, even if it means muuuuuurder. The musical spoofs just about every Broadway brat, with plenty of plot twists and enough cheesiness to make it charming. The PG-13 show runs the next three weekends, and you can get your $20 tickets though lubbockcommunitytheatre.org.

That’s a look at what’s in the Hub City!
