Lubbock Mayor Dan Pope will take part in a Foster Care Leadership Forum organized by the Lubbock Interagency Adoption Council. The forum will take place on Tuesday, September 19 at Southcrest Baptist Church, 3801 S. Loop 289. The forum is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m.

The purpose of the forum is to share information about the current foster care shortage in Texas and in particular West Texas. Participants include faith-based leaders, child welfare professionals, community and civic leaders, and elected officials. Special guest speakers include Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Commissioner Hank Whitman, Jr. The goal is for these leaders to take information about the need back to their congregations, organizations, civic groups, and constituents and to share information about ways to get involved.
