Mayor Glen Robertson gave his final State of the City address on Tuesday, with the proceeds from the event going to High Point Village.

“It’s great to be able to give a final state of the city that had so much positive information, but it’s a little sad to give the last one,” Robertson said.

He spoke about a number of different topics from across the city, including transportation, the economy, the debt, and downtown. He also shared updates on two topics he spoke about heavily during his time as mayor: water and electricity.

“I’m more proud of what this council has done with electricity and water than anything. This city is very well prepared for the next 50 to 100 years,” Robertson said.

This year, there are four seats on the city council that will be on the ballot, including the mayor’s position. Even though he won’t be returning as mayor, Robertson is looking to Lubbock’s future.

“The good news is we’ve got a lot of people running for office that are very passionate about this city, and our citizens will make a good decision,” Robertson said.
