An iconic restaurant in Lubbock, the Mean Woman Grill at 2103 Marsha Sharp Freeway, will close after Saturday according to a Facebook post.
There is some hint that Mean Woman Grill could come back in the future. But for now the lease is lost and the doors will close.
Texas Monthly wrote of it in April 2014, saying in part, “At first we were afraid to ask for refills or no onions on our burgers, cause these waitresses could kick butt. But this place is actually Cheers reborn, devoted to regulars, newbies, and the food it’s peddling.”
The original Mean Woman Grill was in Levelland from 1996 – 2006 and was described as “known worldwide.”

This will be the last week of operation of the Mean Woman Grill. The property was sold to a hotel chain and we’ve lost our lease, so Saturday Night at 10:00pm we will close our doors for the last time. But between now and then we’re going to have a high old time. We’ve got a great lineup starting THURSDAY for our FAMILY AND FAITH NIGHT with ROBERT LOPEZ and LAUREL GUZMAN. And how could we not have JENNI DALE LORD on the last weekend. Catch her show at 11:30am FRIDAY MORNING. We’ve got a brand new band to the Mean Woman Grill stage FRIDAY NIGHT beginning at 6:30pm. EARLY MORNING REIGN has been around for a while but this is their fist time at the Grill. SATURDAY at lunch we’ve got the fabulous KELLY HASTEY. You can’t not love him, and then that evening, shutting the Grill down, will be the DRAKE HAYES BAND. Come on out, enjoy some great Texas comfort good and have a great time with family oriented live music at the Mean Woman Grill. It’s your last chance! WE ARE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO MIGHT LIKE TO OPEN A MEAN WOMAN GRILL FRANCHISE IN SOUTHWEST LUBBOCK. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED PLEASE LET ME KNOW AT jimdunn@interoz.com. Thanks
