The Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s office released a statement concerning a human bone found last week in Clapp Park.
The ME said, “A timeline as to if, and when, a scientific identification can be made cannot be estimated.”
The rest of the body was not found despite a search by Lubbock Police and the Lubobck Fire Rescue dive team.
The text of the statement from the ME is copied below:
On Tuesday, May 24, 2016, the Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office was informed of the discovery of a bone. On that same day, the Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office informed the Lubbock Police Department that the bone was human and was the left Tibia. This bone is under the custody of the Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office and further analysis will be performed. Given the current investigative information, a timeline as to if, and when, a scientific identification can be made cannot be estimated. As significant investigative information becomes available to the involved agencies this time interval to identification may change. This office thanks the Lubbock Police Department for their ongoing investigative efforts.
