A single speech overshadowed all the others in day one of the Republican National Convention. Melania Trump’s speech raised eyebrows on Monday after parts of her speech were found similar to Michelle Obama’s back in 2008.

Brittany Todd, the Associate Director of Student Conduct, said her office is an unbiased, fact-gathering arm of the university.

“Plagiarism is the representation of words, ideas, illustrations,  structure, computer code, other expression or media of another, as one’s own. And/or failing to properly cite, direct paraphrased or summarized materials,” Todd said.

Todd added that included speeches.

“The University takes all forms of academic integrity really seriously and Texas Tech has really really defined our policy about how we do things here at the university and making sure we uphold the upmost integrity of our academic classrooms,” Todd said.

When asked if Trump’s speech would be considered Plagiarism under Texas Techs rules, Todd declined to comment.
