Military Drive Entrance into Dyess AFB Reopened Following ‘Security Concern’ Wednesday

Dyess Air Force Base has reopened the Military Drive entrance after it was shut down due to a security concern Wednesday morning.

The gate and street were shut down for about an hour while an investigation was conducted.

The Abilene Police Department was the first to say there was a security concern at the entrance to Dyess Air Force Base on Military Drive.

Dyess Air Force Bases’ Public Affairs Office later confirmed the gate was closed until this security concern was investigated further.

Abilene Police officers assisted with traffic control as the investigation continues.

No further details are being released at this time.
