Lubbock Police on Thursday put out a missing person poster for help in finding Emily Valdez, 37, who had been missing – according to police – for seven weeks. By Thursday evening, the missing woman was no longer missing. She was in jail.
Police at first said Valdez was last seen at 4th Street and Marsha Sharp Freeway on August 4. Someone called police on August 9 to express concern after not seeing Valdez for several days.
The police report from August 9 said Valdez did not pick up her sister for a doctor’s appointment and this was unusual.
On Friday morning, police issued a brief statement.
It said, “She called last night after learning she had been reported missing. She was then arrested for an outstanding warrant.”
She was then booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center for issuance of a bad check. She was still in jail at the time of this report.
