KLBK has confirmed the Monterey baseball team has had to drop out of the playoffs due to the use of an ineligible player.
The official statement from LISD is below:
Amarillo Tascosa will replace Monterey High School in the district 2-6A baseball play-offs. Lubbock ISD athletic officials determined that that a freshman student had played in one more than the allotted number of UIL games allowed for a student playing in both varsity and sub-varsity sports. Monterey High School reported the error to the District Executive Committee (DEC) and the DEC determined that the last Monterey game of the season, which was against Tascosa, would be forfeited.
