This afternoon (Friday), Lubbock Police Officers responded to the 2600 block of Avenue L, in reference to a call about the alarm going off. When officers arrived they discovered a young child was inside.
After several attempts were made to get an adult to come to the door, police officers became concerned that something may have happened to the care taker and they forced entry into the residence.
A three year old was discovered to be alone within the residence. They found the home to be in disarray with feces and broken glass found throughout making it a dangerous environment.
Child Protective Services were notified and the child was removed for her safety. The mother arrived on scene during the investigation.
Lubbock Police officers learned she had left her three year old home alone since approximately noon while she went to work. She was arrested and transported to the Lubbock County Detention Facility.
