An Odessa woman, Nanette Guererro Rodriguez 48, was arrested for a state-jail felony charge of abandoning a child.
According to the Odessa Police Department, officers found a 6-year-old girl in the area of 31st Street and Henderson Avenue just before 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police said it was 32 degree outside and police did not how long the child had been outside with no shoes or jacket. So, officers requested an ambulance to check on the girl.
They also knocked loudly on the front door for about ten minutes but no one answered the door.
Officers then took the child to the Odessa Police Department and contacted Children’s Protective Services.
Police said the Investigation revealed Rodriguez left the house at about 7:30 a.m. to take her husband to work and left her child unsupervised.
Jail records did not list Rodriguez as of early Friday evening.
