After her two kids passed away in July, a Lubbock mother asked for donations for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

5-year-old Garrett and 1-year-old Avery were found dead in Lynn County in July.

Their grieving mother, Cybil Contreras, asked for the community to support her by making donations to the RMHC.

“Well I think it is a tremendous honor that we have been chosen as the charity that she would like to honor her children,” Dina Jeffries said. “And in essence by people giving and doing just that it really sends a strong message to the mother that those children’s lives mattered, not only to her and her family but to so many people.”

Dina Jeffries is the President and CEO of RMHC Southwest. She said more than four figures have been donated in Garrett and Avery’s honor, and donations continue to be made.
