On November 3, LPD and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children asked for the public’s help to find Mariah Martinez, age 8; Jeremiah Martinez, age 5; and Leimiah Martinez McGavok, age 2.

On Thursday, a statement from police said, “The children are still considered at risk, and we are asking for the public’s help in finding these three children.”

“Investigators are working closely with local New Mexico law enforcement to locate the children,” the statement said.  “During this investigation, the family has been uncooperative with investigators.”

The mother, Amanda Martinez, 25, of Lubbock, was put in jail for contempt of court on November 1 after refusing to tell a judge where to find her children.

Martinez has since been released from jail, and a judge ordered the Lubbock County Detention Center to provide the phone records of Martinez’ phone calls while she was incarcerated.  Those records were to be turned over no later than Tuesday (November 8).

In October, police went to her residence along with Children’s Protective Services.  CPS intended to remove the children from the mother’s home. There were allegations that two of the children were physically assaulted and the mother’s boyfriend threatened to kill them.

CPS also accused the mother of moving the children into the home of a registered sex offender.

Police said anyone with information on the whereabouts of the children was asked to call Crime Line at 806-741-1000.
