Muleshoe Man Killed in Armstrong County Traffic Accident Saturday Afternoon

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was called to a one-vehicle crash today [Saturday] in Armstrong County, resulting in the death of one person.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., John Mendoza, 49, of Muleshoe, was driving a 1999 Freightliner truck tractor/semi trailer northbound on SH-207, approximately one mile north of Ranch to Market (RM) 285.

The Freightliner traveled off the right side of the roadway and down a steep drop off approximately 50 feet below the roadway.

Mendoza was pronounced dead on scene by the Armstrong County Justice of the Peace.

The factor that contributed to Mendoza leaving the roadway is still under investigation.

The road conditions were dry and no other vehicles were involved.
