Muleshoe Police Chief Roy L. Rice released a statement Wednesday afternoon concerning several reported incidents that occurred overnight in the city. The statement was posted on the City of Muleshoe’s Facebook page

Below is the statement from Chief Rice:

“Some of you are wondering about the events last evening between 11:00 pm and 1:00 am this morning. The Muleshoe Police Department received several calls of subjects knocking on doors, windows, and houses and possibly some shots being fired in the areas from the 1100 – 2000 blocks of W Ave B and C. Officers and deputies responded to the areas of the reports and were not able to locate anyone in the area running. Officers heard a couple of either shots from a low caliber gun or fireworks but did not find evidence of either one. Since the area was heavily patrolled and not locating anyone, it is believed the incidents were involving youth just playing games. If someone had been in fear of their life, there were many opportunities to get to the police safely. Though there were several reports, there weren’t many witnesses seeing anyone or able to give a detail description of the subjects . We are asking the public to please contact the law enforcement agencies if they have any information on who might have been involved in this incident. It takes all of us working together to keep Muleshoe safe.”
