The City of Lubbock would like to thank City Bank for a decade long partnership regarding naming rights to the Lubbock Municipal Auditorium and Coliseum.
Both organizations have enjoyed this beneficial relationship and appreciate the opportunities it has provided. However, the contract has now expired, and after careful consideration, the agreement will not be renewed.
“The City of Lubbock is a great partner and the Auditorium and Coliseum have been great venues for increasing exposure,” City Bank President and CEO Cory T. Newsom said. “However, as we look to stay relevant in emerging channels and pursue new advertising opportunities, we are continually evaluating our marketing initiatives in the Lubbock market and others.”
The City Council first awarded City Bank naming rights to the Municipal Auditorium and Coliseum in December of 2006. The City partnered with City Bank on two agreements, each lasting five years (2007-2011, 2012-2016).
“We thank City Bank for their commitment to Lubbock and to our facilities which host major entertainers and events that attract hundreds of thousands of people to our city each year,” Lubbock City Manager Jarrett Atkinson said. “The continued growth in tourism benefits our community both culturally and financially.”
The City will now evaluate future opportunities that may be available for the Municipal Auditorium and Coliseum. Events scheduled at the facilities will not be affected by this change.
