Success of the Slaton Harvey House Bingo Night is still ringing as preparations for a Murder Mystery Dinner begin.
The Slaton Harvey House hosts its annual Murder Mystery Dinner on April 28 and 29, 2017. The cast, made up of local community members and leaders, is sure to please the crowd as the Harvey House is transported into the days of the Wild West.
The Plot: The town is gathering to celebrate Marshall T Potts, who came to Dodgy City, Slaton ten years ago. He appears to have cleaned up the town, but has he? It seems everyone has a vendetta against one another or the Marshall, and trouble is on the rise. If worse comes to worse, will you be able to guess who dun’ it?
The entire community is invited to spend a night in the Old West, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on April 28 or 29, 2017. Tickets are $50 each, and proceeds go to operation, preservation, and restoration of Slaton’s beloved historic railroad depot. Reservations are required, as seating is limited, and can be made by calling 806-828-5900 or emailing SlatonHarveyHouse@gmail.com.
The Slaton Harvey House is a landmark two-story Santa Fe Railroad building constructed in 1912, part of a chain of restaurants and hotels created in 1876 by Scottish immigrant Fred Harvey. The Harvey House was famous for the fine dining served there by the legendary “Harvey Girls” who lived on the second floor.
A Mission Revival structure that features concrete walls a foot thick, the Slaton Harvey House has been restored to its former status, providing travelers with warm and friendly hospitality as a highly-rated bed and breakfast. The building also serves as an event hall for community events and private rentals. An archive for artifacts and memorabilia of the Slaton railroad heritage is also in development.
