Lubbock teenager Elizabeth Ennen was found dead in January 2011, after being reported missing for nearly three weeks. Her story will be on the Investigation Discovery channel on April 12.
Elizabeth was first reported missing on January 5, 2011. According to police, Elizabeth had been babysitting for a family friend and never returned home.
Lubbock Police initially arrested Humberto Salinas Jr. on a kidnapping charge, and later he was charged with her murder. He later pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to life in prison for Elizabeth’s death.
Court documents said during the investigation, Lubbock Police looked through surveillance video from the Carriage House Motel, where Elizabeth was last seen alive.
“We need to come up, catch up with the times, because closed circuit TV is pretty much everywhere, anywhere,” Elizabeth’s mom, Virginia Ennen, said.
Elizabeth was first classified as an endangered runaway before being considered an endangered missing person.
Ennen said since her daughter’s death, she has become an advocate for other families who may be in similar situations.
“I think it would make her [Elizabeth] proud, and she’d be very happy about it, that we’re trying to make a stand for the way our kids are classified, and how from the very first moment, because whether they’re runaway or missing, they’re still missing no matter what, because they’re not at home,” Ennen said.
The show ‘See No Evil’ featuring Elizabeth’s case will first air on April 12 at 9 p.m. central time on the Investigation Discovery channel.
