Students from Bean and Roscoe Wilson elementary schools will visit Texas Tech University on Wednesday to participate in “mapping’ Giachino Rossini’s William Tell Overture in the University Symphony Orchestra’s outreach concert.

The second-, third- and fourth-grade students at both schools have completed a ten-lesson intensive study on the William Tell Overture. As part of the study, the students analyzed the rhythms, melodies and forms from each section of the work and participated in activities designed to help them interact creatively and expressively with the music.

On Wednesday, Nov. 30, the students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their creative expression with the University Symphony Orchestra. They will use parachutes, streamers, signs and dancing to demonstrate elements in the performance.

The event will be at 1:15 p.m. in the Hemmle Recital Hall on the Texas Tech University campus in the School of Music building, 2624 18th St.
