Mustang Prep Introduces Students to Coronado AP Curriculum

Mustang Prep began this week to assist incoming freshmen in the transition to Coronado High School and prepare them for success in Pre-Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) and Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

One of the highlights of the activities this week is a project-based learning session on the final day of Mustang Prep. On Wednesday, July 13, students will be taught how to create and print 3-D files and learn the basics of project-based learning, a major component of Coronado’s T-STEM designation. The sessions will run from 9 – 11:50 a.m. and 1 – 3:50 p.m. The best opportunity for visual impact will be during the last 45 minutes of either session.

Mustang Prep was designed to expose students to higher-level curriculum and expectations in high school Pre-AP and AP courses and prepare them for success. The program covers a variety of topics including critical reading skills, study tips, learning styles and writing.

Coronado High School was designated as a 2016-2017 Texas Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (T-STEM) Academy by the Texas Education Agency in May after successful completion of an application process. T-STEM designation allows academies to access professional development, receive technical assistance, and participate in the network of T-STEM academies. Coronado High School is located at 4910 29th Dr.
