Three people are dead after a school shooting at Aztec High School in Aztec, NM.
Two students are dead, the shooter is dead as well. There are no other injuries reported. According to the San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, no injured people have been transported from Aztec High School.
Earlier deputies and Lt. Kyle Lincoln from the San Juan County Sheriff Department cleared the building and actively searched the school.
San Juan County Sheriff’s Office has asked parents of Aztec High School to pick up their kids at Mcgee Park at noon.
A former Aztec school board member who went by the scene shortly after it unfolded says this is absolutely unheard of in their small community.
“Tragically the horrors that visited many other communities have come to roost here in Aztec,” Michael Padilla said. He also called the scene chaotic and said there was a massive law enforcement presence.
In a brief news conference Thursday afternoon, Governor Susanna Martinez said “All New Mexicans are with Aztec today,” asking if anyone has any information to contact local officials.
There was little additional detail stated from what has already been reported except the shooter was male, there were individuals who took action and there will be no names given out today. The call came in to the Aztec Police Department while classes were in session. Local, state and federal authorities will continue to investigate the first scene at the school and others as well.
As of 10 a.m. Bloomfield schools are no longer on lockdown. All students faculty and staff are accounted for.
On social media, there is an influx of support for the Aztec community.
A prayer service is planned for 4:30 p.m. at Saint Joseph church.

The Farmington Police Department Victim Services, New Mexico State Crime Victims Reparation Commission, 11th Judicial District District Attorney’s Office, New Mexico State Police, and New Mexico Attorney General’s Office advocates are coordinating to assist families who have children and/or staff of Aztec High School during today’s tragedy.
Advocates will have applications available to apply for the New Mexico State Crime Victims Reparation Commission benefit. The CVRC may assist families in funding counseling services and medical bills that arose out of this incident.
