Multiple news outlets report that Michael Flynn will take a plea deal Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. (eastern).
The office of special counsel made an announcement about Flynn, saying he will take a deal concerning a criminal charge of making a false statement to the FBI.
Flynn not only was associated with Donald Trump’s campaign, he is also the president’s former National Security Adviser.
Court records file-stamped on Thursday indicated that Flynn was accused of making a false statement to the FBI on or about January 24. In December, before Trump took office and before Flynn had authority to act in an official capacity, the FBI was investigating what Flynn said (or didn’t say) to a Russian Ambassador.
Flynn is not charged for any interaction he had with the Russians. Instead, he’s charged for lying to the FBI when asked about it.
