According to the Associated Press, ISIS claimed responsibility for the mass shooting in Las Vegas that killed more than 50 people and injured more than 400 people.
Stephen Paddock, 64, was identified as the gunman. Paddock was found dead, possibly having committed suicide after the shooting. Paddock was on the 32nd floor of a building near a country music festival.
A Mesquite, Nevada police spokesman said Paddock’s home was vacant when authorities arrived to search it.
“It’s a nice, clean home and there’s nothing out of the ordinary,” the Mesquite police spokesman said.
Police said Monday morning the attack was not terrorism. And, the AP said ISIS failed to provide evidence that Paddock was acting on behalf of an extremist group. There was also no proof that Paddock converted to Islam months ago as ISIS claimed.
CBS News posted video of an interview with Paddock’s brother who was shocked and stunned by the shooting. He said nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary with Paddock before the shooting.
Reporter: When was the last time you heard from him?
Gunman’s Brother: He texted me to ask about my mom after the hurricane [in Florida]. pic.twitter.com/qotkKgX19v— CBS News (@CBSNews) October 2, 2017
