BEAUREGARD, Ala. — President Donald Trump is visiting Alabama today to see areas devastated by tornadoes that killed 23.

As is usually the case, the president’s schedule isn’t being made publicly available in advance of the trip. However, he’s expected to meet with victims, relief volunteers, and local officials before traveling to Florida later in the day.

Earlier this week, Trump told reporters he’s been in touch with the governors of Alabama and Georgia. On Tuesday, he declared a major disaster exists in Alabama and ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in Lee County. The Trump Administration said assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the disaster.

President Trump has made a handful of trips to greet victims of natural disasters including the Carolinas following Hurricane Florence.
