PASSAIC, N.J. (AP/WPIX) — Authorities say a teenage boy attacked a woman and her son in New Jersey last week as she pushed an infant in a stroller.
The 13-year-old was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault and simple assault, nearly a week after the attack allegedly occurred in Passaic.
Authorities say the woman and her two children — a 13-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl — were headed to their home when the attack occurred June 19.
They say the juvenile suspect approached them and struck the woman when she stepped in front of her son, causing her to temporarily lose consciousness and fall to the sidewalk. The woman’s son was also struck in the face.
The woman was hospitalized with facial fractures and a concussion.
Authorities haven’t said what spurred the attack.
