Police: Arizona father kills man who tried to enter his daughter’s bathroom stall

PHOENIX (WCMH) – Police say a man who tried to enter a teenage girl’s bathroom stall was confronted and killed by the girl’s father.

Melvin Harris’ fiancee tells KNXV it happened as he was driving their 16-year-old daughter and two of their friends home. The girls asked for a bathroom break and stopped at a Q-T.

Harris’ daughter told police while in the restroom, Leon Armstrong came into the women’s restroom and started shaking the stall door, trying to get to her.

Court documents show Harris and his daughter let employees and the hired security guard know what happened, and Harris told the security guard to ‘take care of the situation, or he would do it himself.”

As they were driving away, police say Harris spotted Armstrong again and got out of his vehicle to confront him. Witnesses say Harris hit, stomped, and kicked the man repeatedly.

“I’m not mad at him, I don’t feel like he did anything wrong. I love him. he did was he was supposed to do for our kid. You cannot tell someone they’re wrong for protecting their children,” said Diana Jackson, who is Harris’ Fiancee.

Armstrong was taken to the hospital with a broken nose and brain injuries. He later died.

Harris is now charged with second-degree murder.
