A Knoxville, Tennessee referee was arrested after he was accused of pulling a knife on a youth football coach Saturday.
A high school resource officer said the referee, Arnold Jay Davis, III called a game as a forfeiture due to Coach Antonio Hamilton being ejected from the game. Davis believed Hamilton was causing a disturbance.
A report from the resource officers said when both teams were leaving the field, Hamilton and Davis began arguing. The referee claimed the coached made a threat to kill him.
The school resource officer said he tried to split the two men up when Davis pulled out a large pocket knife from his back pocket.
Davis faced a charge for aggravated assault. The coach was not charged as of Monday.
According to knoxnews.com, a Knox County Parks and Recreation spokesman said both Davis and Hamilton will not be allowed to participate in youth league activities pending the outcome of a criminal investigation.
