BURTON, Mich. (WCMH) – When a Michigan woman with cerebral palsy was denied a manicure at a Walmart nail salon, an employee stepped in to paint her nails.
Employees at the nail salon inside Walmart in Burton, Michigan told Angela Peters that her hands were too shaky for them to paint her nails, WJRT reported.
Burton has cerebral palsy, which makes her hands shake.
Cashier Ebony Harris was working just a few feet away. She says she decided to do something about it.
“I just wanted to make her day special. I didn’t really want her day to be ruined. That’s why I did it. Because and plus she’s a sweetie,” said Harris.
The two picked out some nail polish, then grabbed a seat at Subway for a manicure. Harris gave up her break to do Peters’ nails.
“And you know, she moved her hands a little bit and she kept saying she was sorry, And I told her don’t say that. I said you’re fine,” said Harris.
Tasia Smith, an employee at the Subway, captured a photo that has now gone viral.
“Ebony deserved all the appreciation she could get,” said Smith.
“We’re not trying to bash the nail salon, we’re not trying to make them lose customers, make them look bad. But maybe spread awareness that no matter the person, who they are, what color they are, disability, whatever, they’re people too. She wants to look pretty, you know and so why can’t she?” said Harris. “I told her she’s a blessing to us, to anybody, not just me. She makes me look at life and appreciate it much more than you know what I have been.”
Angela is grateful, not only for Ebony’s help, but for a beautiful manicure.
