Power was restored for nearly 200 Lubbock residents as of Tuesday evening, according to LP&L spokesman Matt Rose.
He said heavy flooding can cause delays in response time and accessibility.
“Any time you have a storm like you had last night, where heavy flooding is involved, it’s obviously going to create its own set of challenges,” said Rose. “But our folks are very good at working around these issues. they’ve been working around the clock, and they’re not going to stop working until we have everybody up.”
“[Heavy flooding is] going to cause problems in terms of getting our heavy trucks into some of these areas because they are so water logged. We’re having to come up with different ways of how to get our trucks as close as we can to the affected areas without getting them stuck.”
Rose said the company only suffered minimal damage to its equipment during Monday’s storms.
“We build in, cushion in terms of making sure we have enough money to repair our equipment,” he said. “Fortunately, with last night’s storm, we didn’t have any poles that were affected, so we’re not going to have to replace those. We certainly have small pieces of equipment and line that we’re going to have to repair. But all of that is built into our budget every year.”
Rose tells EverythingLubbock.com that a new series of public safety videos is set to be released in the coming days. He said the best way to report an outage is to email LightsOut@lpandl.com, which notifies the Outage Management Center.
