Lubbock Police are investigating an attack that occurred in the 2800 block of 38th Street at 3:30 Saturday morning.

“That’s the first time anything like this has ever happened on this block,” Neighbor Glenn Manley said.

Police said the victim was at his home at the time with an unknown man approached his property. The suspect then attacked the victim with an “unknown cutting instrument”, cutting the victim in the stomach and left forearm. The suspect then fled on foot.

“I was surprised because it’s pretty quiet usually around here,” Manley said. “No trouble, no parties. There’s people with loud boom boxes on their car and stuff like that. But other than that that’s all over. That’s all over Lubbock.”

Most neighbors on the block told KLBK and EverythingLubbock.com that they were shocked to hear about the incident. Manley, as well as others,  said they didn’t hear or see anything from the attack.

“There are two or three new neighbors but I don’t know anything about them,” Manley said. “I kind of just stay to myself.”

According to police, the victim called 911 three hours after the attack. He was then taken to Covenant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
