The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a fatal collision that occurred Saturday in Carson County.

At approximately 9:45 a.m., Jeremy David Ogorman, 23, of Amarillo, was driving eastbound on IH-40 approximately 11 miles west of Conway when he became distracted. This distraction allowed the 2004 Saturn Vue he was driving, to run off the road and into the center median. Ogorman, in an attempt to gain control, overcorrected; losing control into the eastbound lanes, back through the center median and into westbound traffic. The Vue then collided with a westbound 2014 Freightliner driven by James David Brome, 72, of New Braunsfels, Texas.

Brome was pronounced deceased at the scene by Jean Hardman, Carson County Justice of the Peace. Next of kin has been notified. A passenger in the Freightliner, Edwin Dwight Bailey, 25, of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo in stable condition. Ogorman was taken to Baptist Saint Anthony’s in Amarillo in stable condition. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Road conditions were dry and no other vehicles were involved. The crash is still under investigation.
