July 1st: The holiday weekend will kick off with Lubbock’s First Friday Art Trail
July 2nd: La Raza on the Plaza Street Dance featuring La Mafia and A.B. Quintanilla y Los Kumbia King Allstarz
July 3rd: Texas Country Street Dance featuring The Turnpike Troubadours and The Dirty River Boys
July 4th: Parade, Picnic in the Park and Evening Concert, Yankee Doodle Dash & Sparkle Spring, Fireworks Extravaganza
4th on Broadway Parade
The Sonic 4th on Broadway Parade begins Monday, July 4th at 9:00 a.m. on an all-new route. This year, the parade will start at Avenue M and Broadway. It will head east, turning left on Canyon Lake Drive, and head up into the park where it will end. It is going to be a bit longer, but easier access.
Things to Know
Free Parking: Free parking is available anywhere Downtown. There is also a free parking lot directly across the street from Mackenzie Park.
$5 Parking & Shuttle Service: This will be offered from the Fairgrounds Parking Lot.
$1 Parking: After the parade, it will be $1 to park at the Civic Center. This will also include a ride to the park.
What to Bring: Remember to bring plenty of sunscreen and bug spray! You can also bring your lawn chairs and blankets, awnings, beach umbrellas, and of course your American flags and patriotic spirit!
What’s Available: There will be 50-plus vendors at the parade and all day to provide your food and beverage needs. Stick around after the parade for much more fun and entertainment. For the kids, there’s a Kids’ Korner with plenty of fun activities. The Picnic in the Park includes 7 music stages featuring all different genres of music. Later in the evening the Lubbock Youth Orchestra will perform, and don’t forget the fireworks extravaganza!
Live Parade Broadcast: If you can’t make it in person, KLBK-TV will be telecasting the Sonic 4th on Broadway Parade live on Monday, July 4th from 9am-11am.
