Lubbock will officially have a brand new Walmart as of Wednesday morning at 8:00 am.  The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce will have a ribbon cutting at 7:30 followed by the store opening at 114th and Quaker.

“The new store will offer a full line of affordable, fresh produce and groceries, including organic and natural selections, in addition to local favorites,” Walmart said in a written statement.  “The store will also feature quality, value-priced general merchandise.”

The statement also said, “The new Walmart Supercenter will also generate additional tax revenue for the community, stimulating new investment and economic growth and provide up to 300 additional jobs with the opportunity to build a career.”

Walmart said its hourly pay in Texas averages $13.37.

After Wednesday morning, Lubbock will have five Walmart locations in the city.
