No. 16 Oklahoma outlasted Texas Tech in an offensive shootout, 66-59.

Texas Tech’s junior quarterback Patrick Mahomes set the NCAA record for total offense in a single game with 819 yards, while also adding seven total touchdowns.

Mahomes also tied the FBS record for passing yards in a single game with 734. That total matched that of Washington State’s Connor Halliday in 2014.

On the other sideline, Oklahoma junior quarterback Baker Mayfield matched Mahomes with seven touchdowns of his own, along with 545 passing yards of his own.

The two quarterbacks combined for the most passing yards by opposing quarterbacks with 1,279 yards through the air.

Even better, the two offenses combined for the most yards by two teams, the offenses combined for 1,708 total yards of offense.

Texas Tech fell to (3-4, 1-3 Big 12) on the season. The Red Raiders will face TCU next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Fort Worth and the game will be broadcast on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.
