Emergency crews were dispatched to a traffic accident involving two commercial vehicles in Lynn County Tuesday morning.

The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 87, approximately 8 miles south of Tahoka, around 4:00 a.m.

According to the DPS, the driver of southbound semi-truck and trailer fell asleep and drifted into the center media. The driver then overcorrected, which caused the semi-truck to overturn on its side in the southbound lanes.

The driver of a southbound box truck came upon the wreck and attempted to avoid the semi-truck, however, it clipped the vehicle.

This caused the box truck to cross the center media and the northbound lanes. The vehicle then overturned in the east barrow bitch.

The driver of the semi-truck, the driver of the box truck and two passengers in the box truck were not injured.

TxDOT crews responded to the accident scene to clean up slipped cargo. Both vehicles were transporting groceries, the DPS said.

Traffic was being diverted onto Farm-to-Market 3332 for a time.
