4 Legged Friends is an at-home rescue shelter, working to save unwanted pets in Lubbock and surrounding areas.

Co-owners, Lori Crum and Sarah Field are full-time veterinarian technicians, who took on a mission to save every man’s ‘four legged’ best friend. In the last month, the non-profit organization has taken in more than 30 dogs.

“It’s just a ministry,” Field said. “We hate to see dogs euthanized for no reason, you know, so we really want to help find those dogs a home.”‘

Field said the number one reason dogs are euthanized is because of behavioral problems. She said she works closely with the dogs to make sure they are crate trained and can be around children, other animals, veterans, and the elderly.

“Our main goal out of everything,” Field said, “is to try and make sure whatever home they go to and whatever people are looking for the dogs that they get the right fit for the family.”

She said their adoption rate is $125 flat and they offer veterans and seniors a discounted rate. She said they are particular about what people adopt the dogs, because she wants to ensure the next home they go to will forever be their home sweet home.

The non-profit organization is solely based on voluntary work and they hope to expand their shelter to give their dogs more room to play and grow.

“We are right now at capacity, just because the garage can only hold so many,” Field said, “but we try our very hardest to get them out there to get them adopted, so we can have more space for the next ones that come in.”
