Lubbock Fire Rescue was called to a house fire in the 2300 block of 78th Street during the noon hour Monday.

A photojournalist at the scene was told the fire was contained mostly to the garage. No people were inside, and no one was hurt.

However, LFR said, “Crews discovered two adult female dogs and nine puppies deceased.”

“The residence suffered heavy fire damage to the garage and smoke damage throughout the structure,” LFR said.  “Two adults and one child were displaced from the home.”

“The cause of the fire was determined to be a heat lamp placed in the garage for the dogs,” LFR said.
