Last year over 39,000 people engaged in our South Plains communities through the Volunteer Center of Lubbock. These individuals, groups, and businesses play a vital role in nurturing a culture of service and growing the next generation of community leaders. The Volunteer Center seeks to honor their contributions through the Get Involved Awards.

“We all have witnessed someone that contributes their gifts, talents, and resources to make the South Plains a better place to live,” said Service Coordinator, Paris Wright. “It’s vital that we recognize those that impact our community.”

The Volunteer Center asks members of the community to submit nominations for the following award categories: Adult (Group or Individual), Young Adult (under 35), College (Group or Individual), Youth (12-18, group or individual), Child(ren)(12 and under, group or individual), Family, Business, Volunteer Coordinator, Louise Cummins Outstanding Agency or Organization Award, and Diekemper Lifetime of Service Award.

All individuals or organizations involved in volunteering activities are eligible for nomination. The Get Involved Awards will be presented at the 20th Annual Cornucopia Luncheon, November 2, 2016, at the Lubbock Country Club. Event sponsorships are available.

Nominations are due by 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 and are accepted by mail, fax, or online. Forms can be found at http://www.volunteerlubbock.org/news-events/get-involved-award-nomination-form/. For more information, contact Paris Wright at (806) 747-0551 or pwright@volunteerlubbock.org.
