LEVELLAND, TEXAS – A local non-profit organization works to help kids in Texas, who have been neglected and abused.
Children’s Hope Washington Campus in Levelland is currently housing 20 children who have been neglected and abused.
Fundraising and Community Awareness Coordinator, Cheyenne Jordan said the organization works every day to restore hope to children, who have been removed from their homes due to a tragic experience.
“As soon as they walk through our doors, we give them all of our support” Jordan said. “That’s what were here for, to show them that they can trust in themselves and trust in adults again, because that’s been ripped away from them.”
Diane Jones, program director, said when the kids walk through their doors, they are greeted with the support of 16 staff members and 24-hour care.
“We just want to create memories with them,” Jones said, “and let them know, you can be a child.”
Jones said their facility provides an opportunity for the kids to get their fresh start at a healthy life.
“They were told they weren’t worth anything,” Jones said, “and they are and we have the heart to let them know, they are worth something.”
Jordan said their location is planning on a road trip vacation to visit Sea World, in San Antonio. She said trip is scheduled for August 16-19 and will be the first vacation for many of the children.
“Most of our children haven’t experienced a childhood,” Jordan said. “They have been extremely damaged and had tragic things happen to them. They don’t have parents to give them these opportunities.”
She said they are raising funds through their gofundme account, to take 10 children to Sea World. She said they hope their efforts can give the children a piece of their childhood back.
The non-profit also gives back to the community and have a mentor program for the children living in their residents.
The organization will also an all day fundraiser at Applebee’s in Lubbock, on July 12th.
