An Odessa man is recovering after being shot by his wife inside their home.

The shooting occurred at 10637 W. 20th around 10:50 p.m. Monday night.

According to Ector County Sheriff’s Department, the deputy on scene was met by Amelia Marie Clark. Clark appeared very distraught and was asking where the ambulance was.

The deputy stepping into the home and found a man, identified as Dale Clark, laying on the living room floor. The victim appeared to have a single gunshot wound to his lower abdomen.

Dale told officers that he and his wife Amelia had been having problems, and were arguing and fighting since he came home from work.

He fell asleep on the couch, awoke to his cell phone ringing, and was responding by sending a text when Amelia walked in and asked who he was talking too. After more arguing, she went into the bedroom to grab a firearm and shot him.

Amelia was placed into custody and is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Family Violence, a Second Degree Felony.

Dale was transported to Medical Center Hospital for treatment.
