A man is facing a felony charge after he admitted to touching an 11-year-old girl and then fleeing from the police over the weekend.

Around 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Odessa Police were called to an attempted abduction in Southeast Odessa.

During the investigation, police learn that a man, later identified as Jose Padilla, had inappropriately touched an 11-year-old girl on several occasions and asked her to go with him, according to a release from the department.

The girl reportedly ran away and told her family who then chased and detained Padilla until police arrived at the scene.

While speaking with police, Padilla told officers he was lonely and admitted to grabbing and touching the girl, according to the release.

Padilla was arrested and charged with indecency with a child, a second-degree-felony.
