Olton City Manager Marvin Tillman was arrested by Texas Rangers on Friday, following two grand jury indictments.
Court documents state Tillman was indicted and then arrested on two third degree felony charges of theft of property greater than $2,500 and less than $30,000. He is accused of exercising control over land in Lamb County without authorized permission.
Tillman was not leasing the land from the owner and had “the intent to deprive the owner thereof,” according to court documents. Water payments were also not made to the owner of the land.
Further, Tillman has a misdemeanor theft complaint claiming in December he stole tires from the City of Olton. There is also a felony complaint that Tillman impersonated a police officer.
The City of Olton issued a statement that said, “The City of Olton has received no official notification of any legal matter involving City Manager Marvin Tillman.”
Tillman was held behind bars with bonds totaling $10,000.
