One person was killed and two others were injured after a train and vehicle collided in Lamb County late Saturday morning.

According to the DPS, the accident occurred two miles east of Sudan on Country Road 115, just off U.S. Highway 84, around 11:00 a.m.

The DPS told EverythingLubbock.com a Chevrolet Equinox was southbound on County Road 115 and failed to yield the right of way to a train traveling eastward.

Authorities said a passenger in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and a second passenger (a child) were transported by AeroCare to University Medical Center in Lubbock with unknown injuries.

The identities of the occupants in the SUV have not been released at this time.

No one was injured on the train.
