One Man Dead After Vehicle Crashes into Tree in West Lubbock

At 6:15 Saturday evening Lubbock Police were called to a car that had run into a tree near the 3500 block of 58th street.

Later on in the evening Police and Officials at U.M.C. confirmed that man died.

Police say that a man was trapped in the vehicle. First responders had to use the Jaws of Life to help rescue the man. Police couldn’t tell EverythingLubbock.com the cause of the crash, but their investigators were on the scene for several hours working.

The man did suffer serious injuries and was sent to UMC. At that time, Lubbock Police also started an accident investigation call out.

Mike Thibodaux lives across the street from the crash, he told EverythingLubbock.com that his girlfriend called 9-1-1.

“I was sitting on the sofa and I heard a thud, and I told my girlfriend, ‘I think a plane just crashed into the house  next door,” Thibodaux said.

While his girlfriend called 9-1-1, Thibodaux rushed out to the scene where he said the man looked to be gravely injured.  Thibodaux said E.M.S responded quickly to transport the man to the hospital.

Thibodaux didn’t see the crash, he and other neighbors are still wondering how it occurred.

Some neighbors said they believed the tree prevented the car from careening into a nearby home.
