PRESS RELEASE FROM LUBBOCK POLICE –
Last night, Thursday, March 10, 2016 at approximately 8:03 p.m. patrol officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the area of 38th Street and Ave Q. Officers located the victim in his vehicle, a tan 2005 Ford 500, parked on the southwest corner of the intersection. The victim, Carlos Olguin – 33 suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to UMC by EMS where he remains in critical condition.
The victim and the suspect were partying in a room at the Villa Town, 5401 South Ave Q Drive and became involved in an altercation. The victim got in his vehicle and attempted to leave when the suspect shot at the victim from the balcony striking him in the abdomen. The victim drove away and stopped at 38th Street and Ave Q where he managed to call 911.
Detectives were called to the scene to investigate. While at UMC investigating, the suspect came in seeking treatment for injuries he suffered during the altercation. The suspect was treated by UMC staff and
then arrested.
