The Texas Department of Public safety was called to a one-vehicle vs bicycle crash on IH-40 west access road that occurred Sunday in Potter County, resulting in the death of one person.

At approximately 9:47 p.m., Gerald Seitz Jr., 59, of Bushland was on a bicycle traveling westbound on the access road of IH-40 west. Shatt Davis, 30, of Wildorado was traveling westbound on the access road of IH-40 west behind Seitz Jr. Davis collided into Seitz Jr., resulting in his death. According to Davis, he reached to adjust his radio and struck something.

Seitz Jr., was pronounced dead on scene by Potter County Justice of the Peace, Thomas Jones.

During the investigation, it was determined that Davis had been drinking. Upon completion of the investigation, Davis was arrested, booked into the Potter County jail and charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The road conditions were dry and no other vehicles were involved.

The DPS said the accident occurred 3 miles west of Bushland.
