Dr. John Thomas is the founder of Operation Hope, a non-profit organization that supplies food and medical supplies to people in need all over the world. Today, Dr. Thomas left to go to Haiti to check on a recent food supply delivered there.

We want to make sure that what we said is being done to the food. We need to make sure the food isn’t being blackmailed or being taken and sold to somebody else,” said Dr. Thomas.

But prior to leaving he says that some of his friends voiced concerns about his team leaving the United States. He says they were worried because of President Donald Trump’s recent immigration ban.
“People at United Supermarkets would stop me and say ‘I heard you’re going to Haiti. They aren’t going to let you back in. They say it doesn’t matter who you are, if you look like a foreigner you cannot  come back in’ but people need to know that’s not the truth. Any American that goes from here can come back,” said Dr. Thomas.
Dr. Thomas says he is planning on being back from Haiti on Tuesday and that it is just a short trip. He says that he and his team of Doctors have planned a medical training trip to Iraq for later this year. Iraq was one of the seven countries listed on President Trump’s travel ban list.
“We have 20 people going to Iraq in May and we aren’t worried about coming back because we are American citizens,” said Dr. Thomas.
