On February 19, 2016, at approximately 6:46 p.m., Parmer County Sheriff’s Office in Farwell received a 911 call in reference to an industrial accident at the AGP Grain Facility in Lariat, Texas.
Upon arrival, responders found a man, later identified as William Don Ivey, aged 39, had become entangled in equipment on top of the elevator. When emergency services arrived on scene, it was found that he had sustained life-threatening injuries, and he did not survive. Mr. Ivey was the manager of the AGP Facility, and was working with 4 other employees at the time of his death.
Emergency services from Farwell, including EMS and Fire units, and Clovis Fire/Rescue from Clovis, NM responded and assisted in the extrication from the equipment and the top of the elevator.
The Parmer County Sheriff’s Office, along with Friona Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Gipson, are still investigating this accident.
